So, this wasn’t supposed to go like this. This is different. We were supposed to be in the throes of visa prepping and packing and learning Italian and then everything came to a halt. We are now at home, still learning Italian, but like all of you, having to change our plans.
The plan was for us to leave just after Christmas and be in our home from another mother (can you say that?), Florence, just in time to celebrate New Year’s like an Italian. Apparently, it’s a big deal. Everyone goes into the piazza and there’s fireworks galore. I can’t wait. I love fireworks. And Italians. And piazzas. It sounds perfect. We were then going to stay for six months of day trips to Lucca and Parma, maybe a quick pop over to Greece or Austria and lots and lots of pasta, especially anolini, wine and bliss. Yes, I know that’s not really how it will go, but one can dream, right?
But that is not what will be happening. Nope. We’ve now had to bump our plans to 2022, well, we will still leave at the end of next year and be in Florence for New Year’s, but it’s so. far. away. Sigh.
Well, I guess there’s only one thing left to do. Get a puppy. We’ve really missed Jeeves who passed away in November last year and like everyone else right now we have major puppy fever. It’s just the right thing to do.
So, because we’ve had to change our plans, like all of you, I thought I’d share some of my favorite photos I took on our last trip to Italy so we can dream together. It’s not the same, but it’s something.
